On Sunday evenings from 8pm we have live music in the back bar of the pub from a number of local artists playing Jazz, Blues, Folk, Funk, Swing and much more. Free entry every Sunday, please kindly donate to the hat that circulates for the musicians on the night.


5th - Millbone & Co.
Millbone & Co. return to the Alma with their horn-driven jazz funk. A quintet comprising of some of Bristol’s finest musicians, these guys are not to be missed!

12th - Maria Chiara Argiro Quintet
As part of the Fall Dance tour, Italian pianist and composer Maria brings her quintet to the Alma to play original, eclectic jazz in her unique contemporary style.

19th - The Mighty Peas
An inimitable mix of skiffle, jazz and comedy, the Mighty Peas are a unique force of musical mayhem – this trio will have you laughing and dancing all night long!

26th - Ella Julian
Fresh from the release of her debut EP “Pray”, Ella brings her powerful mix of neo-soul, funk and jazz to the Alma.


5th - Tango Calor
Our live tango trio and taster dance session returns for the spring season! Come along and dance or grab a glass of red and relax to the sounds of authentic Argentine tango.

12th - Ruth Royall

Ruth brings her dynamic sound to the Alma – expect soul, blues and more from this powerful and versatile vocalist.

19th - Circe's Diner
The eclectic ladies of Circe’s Diner return with full band to bring more charming, offbeat songs with a folk-pop twist.

26th - Jon Amor Band
Guitar-driven blues featuring renowned bluesman Jon Amor alongside Bristol’s best – this relatively new band to the scene brings expertly-crafted sounds with a unique touch.


2nd - Henry Slim & Rebecca Philip
Bristol bluesman Slim brings his harmonica and unique charm to the Alma along with guitarist/vocalist Philip, providing a night of foot-stomping authentic blues and roots to shake off the Sunday night cobwebs.

9th - The Hucklebuck
A five-piece blues outfit with a unique take on traditional electric styles, the Hucklebuck have a swinging, dynamic and unapologetically bold sound, guaranteed to have you dancing!

16th - Swing Night with the Vipers
Put on your dancing shoes for a night of swing at the Alma! Grab a partner and get down to the live swing music (or, for the less adventurous, grab a drink and enjoy the swinging sounds in a more relaxed fashion).

30th - Feelgood Experiment
The fresh Bristol soul-hop collective return to the Alma, combining jazz, soul, hip-hop, Afrobeat and R&B to create an utterly bewitching sound.

In the theatre...

February 7th - Jeff Finlin with Clive Barnes
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, the grandson of Irish railroad workers (who seemed to be in the habit of leaping from trains), Jeff Finlin is a fascinating, unique artist who, almost exactly a year after his last date at the Alma, returns to grace our stage.

In the spring of 2013 Jeff Released the epic “My Moby Dick” along with an extensive book of prose titled “Time Less Travel”.

Peter Cooper of the  Nashville Tennessean said of the record:
“Some folks come to Nashville, amble over to Music Row and look for a cookie-cutter solution. Hand Jeff Finlin a cookie cutter, and he’s liable to melt it down and then forge it into something sharper and more dangerous.”

14th – Job Cribb Blues Band- Formerly known as Catfish, a five-piece band playing straight ahead blues, with original interpretations of traditional electric styles, from early jump blues to later Texas and Chicago material, all played with real authenticity and swing

21st – Denny Ilett & Friends - Our regular night is back! Denny Ilett will be sharing a variety of his music & bands with you, every third Sunday of the month.

28th August – John Pratt Quartet Tenor Sax player for The Heavy & No Go Stop brings his own project to The Alma.
